Use of Rail Service in the United States
(March 28, 2005)
When shipping goods to the USA, it is desirable to select an all water ocean service to the port of entry nearest the delivery residence. This is due to the fact that we have encountered transit times of two (2) to three (3) weeks, with some extreme cases of four (4) weeks, on containers moving by rail from the U.S. West Coast to Eastern States and from the U.S. East Coast to Western States. The problem is a result of severe congestion and equipment shortages in the U.S. rail system. In the event that an all water service is not available, you must advise the client that the transit time published may not be accurate and that the container may arrive several weeks later than advertised.
