Maersk Sealand Name Change
(January 17, 2006)
Maersk Sealand will cease to exist as a named Steamship line as a result of the recent acquistion of P&O Nedlloyd. A new service network will be known as, Maersk Line, will be launched on February 12th, combining the P&O Nedlloyd and Maersk Sealand networks.
All transportation documents issued on or after February 12th will be issued under the new name of Maersk Line. For letters of credit, both Maersk Sealand and Maersk Line should be named as Carriers for any bills of lading issued during February. This will assist in any potential delays during this transition.
During this time, P&O Nedlloyd vessels will be phased into the new network which may result in having both P&O Nedlloyd and Maersk Line transport documents (Bills of Ladings). This will cease as the P&O Nedlloyd services are phased out.
