Indonesia - Wood Packing Materials Fumigation Requirement
(October 7, 2009)
We are finding that just about every country is requiring and enforcing specific wood packing specifications. Effective immediately, all shipments containing wood packing material, including lift van pallets, and plywood materials, must be fumigated and the fumigation certificate must accompany the Bill of Lading with a copy attached to the outside of the lift van. The fumigation must be completed by a certified vender here in the USA or other country of origin. If not completed and fully documented, the fumigation may be done in Indonesia upon arrival or entry may be refused. The additional cost of fumigation is not part of the quote for service from UniGroup Worldwide.
All of your shipments to Indonesia, using wood packing materials and wooden pallets must comply with ISPM#15 (Heat Treatment) and Fumigation Certificate must accompany shipping documents. Noncompliance shall result in packing materials and wooden pallets being destroyed by the port authorities at consignee's cost and may result in delayed delivery. Shippers/Consignees will bear the cost of delayed clearance due to this noncompliance.
