EIN Requirement and Customs Power of Attorney for Export Shipments - Effective Immediately

(August 28, 2009)

TO: All UniGroup Worldwide UTS Representatives,

Recently, a change was implemented by the U.S. Government that requires customers to use an EIN (Employer Identification Number) tax number in place of the social security number -- an effort to protect private information connected to your social security number. The attachment below explains more about this new requirement, how to get it and what to do with it.

The packet includes a cover letter you may forward directly to your customers, step-by-step instructions to apply for the EIN number, as well as a sample Customs Power of Attorney (POA) form requiring this EIN Number.

Applying for the EIN Number takes only a few minutes. Please read this document from John Hiles, Director of International Operations, regarding this new requirement for all export shipments, effective immediately.

Acquiring this number is fast and easy. After acquiring this EIN Number, you customer should immediately fill out the POA form and submit directly to UniGroup Worldwide UTS World Headquarters for final processing.

We hope you find this packet helpful to you and your customer. As this is a U.S. requirement, any delays in including this EIN will cause unnecessary delays and expense to your customer(s).

We thank you in advance for your assistance in complying with this new U.S. Government requirement. Any questions, please do not hesitate to contact John Hiles or any UniGroup Worldwide UTS member of management.
