TAIWAN REQUIREMENTS OF WPM

Effective, January 1, 2009 (arrival Taiwan port), wood packaging material (WPM) must be treated in the exporting country prior to export by either Methyl Bromide (MB) or Heat Treatment (HT) method in accordance with International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 under the supervision of the plant quarantine authority of the exporting country.

It must present the "Mark" which certifies the approved treatment on the WPM. The Mark must contain the valid symbol approved by IPPC, country code, and unique number assigned by the NPPO to the producer of the WPM and the approved measure used (MB/HT).

Please note, WPM that does not comply with the requirements will be treated with a methyl bromide fumigation or heat treatment, destroyed at Taiwan or reshipped. Any violation of the above will incur charges.

CHINESE NEW YEAR
The Chinese New Year is approaching. The new year celebration begins January 25 and concludes on January 31.


The offices are closed during this time in Asia, so you will want to plan for this and notify your customers of any shipment delays.
