Household Goods Air Freight
Security
(January 10, 2003)
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is in the process
of evaluating the procedures of accepting cargo on passenger aircraft
to protect against shipments containg an explosve device in light of
recent terrorist threats.
Given the uncertainty surrounding this issue and its serious implications,
UniGroup Worldwide UTS will, on a temporary basis, refrain from tendering
household goods to passenger aircraft.
For some destinations, this decision could impact the transit time
and cost associated with the movement of household good air shipments.
We will continue to research the most economical and expeditious
routings possible.
UniGroup Worldwide UTS is represented on the Board of Directors of
the Airforwarders Association and will be working closely with this
Association, Household Good Forwarders Association and the TSA on all
matters pertaining to the movement of household good shipments by air.
If you have any questions regarding this issue, please contact Steve
